Mangalore, Oct 16: The forest officials in the city on Monday afternoon intercepted a Tata 407 vehicle bearing registration no. KA 20 5735 in Urwa and seized timber logs of value Rs 75,000. They also seized the vehicle, said to be of value Rs 1.5 lac.

The timber stock, on initial inspection, was found to be made of mostly teakwood. Full details will available only after an inventory is prepared. It was found without any proper records or authorization. It was being transported from Kodikal to Urwa-Dambel.

The driver of the vehicle, who was the lone occupant, was taken into custody by the forest officials.
