Air India chief gets 10-month extension

New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS): The government Monday extended Air India Chairman and Managing Director Rohit Nandan's tenure by another 10 months.

According to the appointments committee of the cabinet, the extension of Nandan's tenure is till Aug 21, 2015.

Nandan, whose term had expired in July, was serving a three-month extension. Nandan was appointed in 2011, and has been credited with Air India's recent financial success and its entry into global airline pact Star Alliance.

Nandan is a 1982 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has been serving in the civil aviation ministry as joint secretary since December 2009, which was his first posting outside his parent cadre.
