Mangalore, Oct 18: There could not have been a better messge for social harmony and universal brotherhood than two major festivals of the country, Diwali and Eid ul Fitr, being celebrated almost together, within a gap of two or three days.

Coming as they do a few days after the unfortunate incidents that rocked the city and around for about a week, it could be an opportunity for everyone to ensure a firm bond of united society.

In preparation of their respective feasts, people of two major communities are found busy shopping in the bazaars and malls.

It is high time for a joint celebration.
