Kundapur, Oct 19: A senior citizen was hacked to death by her son-in-law at Janata Colony of Ambagilu near Uppunda here on Wednesday October 19.

Machi Kharvi (70), a resident of Ambagilu was killed by her son-in-law Nagaraj Kharvi on Wednesday.  It is said that a verbal brawl that broke out between the two on Tuesday late night ended up in the murder of the former.

Machi Kharvi had two daughters and both of them had already been given in marriage.  Her daughters Nagaratna and Nagamma live with their husband.  The eldest Nagaratna lives at a close distance to Machi's house in the Janata Colony.

On Tuesday night, Nagaratna and her husband Nagraj had come to Machi's house.  Before they went to bed, Machi started quarreling with Nagaraj over a silly matter.  The fight continued even on Wednesday.  An enraged Nagaraj hit Machi with a sickle.  The sickle slit her throat and she died on the spot.

Byndoor police have registered a case in this regard.
