Mozambique votes to elect fourth president

Maputo, Oct 15 (IANS): Mozambicans went to poll Wednesday to elect the country's fourth president since its independence in 1975.

The presidential race will largely be a showdown between former defence minister Filipe Nyusi of the ruling Frelimo party, leader of the main opposition Renamo Afonso Dhlakama, and leader of the second-largest opposition Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM) Daviz Simango, Xinhua reported.

More than 10.7 million people are registered to vote in the country's 11 provinces.
