Kundapur, Oct 19: Police resorted to mild caning to disperse two groups of final year graduation students of Bhandarkars College who were fighting with each other here on Thursday October 19 morning.
It is said that the long-standing cold war between two groups of students of the college took a wild turn on Thursday morning. The fight also resulted in three students getting hurt and being admitted to a private hospital here.
The injured are identified as Prashanth Shetty, Raghavendra Shetty and Nagaprasad. The fight is said to be the direct result of a small fight between a student body leader and his rival group. Police resorted to mild caning in order to disperse these groups.
However, the police sources said that caning was only to threaten the students and to prohibit them from continuing.
