CTL's Bangalore franchise launched


Bangalore, Oct 21 (IANS): The Bangalore franchise team, owned by Air Asia chief executive Mittu Chandilya, was Tuesday named Bangalore Raptors. The team will participate in the Champions Tennis League (CTL) commencing Nov 15.

The Raptors team includes Venus Williams, Feliciano Lopez, Thomas Enqvist and Ramkumar Ramanathan and will play matches Nov 17, 20, 21 and 24.

Launching the name and logo of the team here, Chandilya said the name was globally crowd-sourced from online and offline platforms.

"We are mighty excited to unveil the name and logo as we put a lot of thought into creating a memorable name and logo. It is a proud moment to gift the vibrant city of Bangalore its own tennis League team. Our fellow Bangaloreans can expect fireworks, entertainment, fun and all-round energy from the Bangalore Raptors," Chandilya said.

Speaking on behalf of CTL, Vijay Amritraj said: "We at CTL are delighted to welcome Bangalore Raptors. Bangalore has a rich history of tennis and the Raptors with their strong team will give the city's fans a lot to cheer about."
