Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 24: Thomas Verghese, General Manager, Southern Railway, has said that the Chennai-Mangalore super-fast express train announced in the Railway Budget will start service from October 28.
Verghese, who arrived here for participating in the inaugural function of the construction of a new railway under bridge, reportedly said the electrification process of the Shoranur-Mangalore line would be completed within two years.
The railway double-line project on the Mangalore-Shoranur section will be completed by March 2007, he indicated.
As part of strengthening the railway security system, new bomb squad units would be stationed in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode and a new dog squad unit would be deployed in Kozhikode, he added.
