Lusaka, Oct 22 (IANS): The Zambia national football team is expected to play Cote d'Ivoire in an international friendly match Saturday, the country's football governing body confirmed Wednesday.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said the 'Elephants' are expected to arrive in Zambia Wednesday, according to a statement posted on its website, reports Xinhua.
According to the statement, the friendly match was part of the technical bench's plans to prepare the team ahead of two crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matches next month.
Nkweto Tembwe, the spokesperson of the football governing body said the association wanted to offer the team quality international friendly matches ahead of the qualifiers.
The two teams last met during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals where Zambia won on penalties.
