Puttur, Oct 25: Deputy Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has ordered judicial probe into the Buderia blast that had claimed 5 lives on Sunday October 15. Puttur sub-divisional Magistrate and assistant commissioner Dr Appaiah has been appointed as the investigating officer.

Rural police circle inspector Manjunath Rai has been appointed as the departmental investigating officer.  The probe has been ordered following an appeal by MLA Shakuntala Shetty to the state home minister M P Prakash and district-in-charge minister Nagaraj Shetty.

As reported earlier 5 persons had died owing to a blast in the cracker preparing unit in one Fakir Saheb's house at Buderia near Alankar here on October 15.  Following this, rumours that this unit was illegal started circling in the region.  While police maintained that Fakir Saheb, who was into this trade for almost half a century, had permission for this trade.  But political parties, local organizations differed on this view.
