Uttar Pradesh determined to promote tourism: CM

Agra, Oct 22 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Wednesday said his government was determined to promote heritage tourism in the state and develop infrastructure to accelerate growth in the sector.

Yadav made the comment while addressing a function at the famous Bateshwar cattle fair, 70 km from here.

He said the cattle fair - the biggest in the state - would be promoted on the lines of Rajasthan's famed Pushkar fair. "For this, all required assistance would be provided by the state government," he said.

Bateshwar is famous for the 101 Shiva temples in a row along the bank of the Yamuna.

The chief minister said a plan was being drawn up for renovation of all the temples and repair of the Yamuna ghats.
