Three union ministers increase assets in five months

New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS): The assets of at least three union ministers have increased since they assumed office five months ago, a joint statement by the National Election Watch and Association of Democratic Reforms said Friday.

The highest increase in assets in five months was shown by Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda.

"His assets have shown an increase of Rs.10.46 crores, from Rs.9.88 crores as declared in Lok Sabha 2014 elections to Rs.20.35 crores in the 2014 declarations of the Union Council of Ministers to the PMO," the statement said.

Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Radhakrishnan P was a distant second. His assets showed an increase of Rs.2.98 crores, while Finance Minister Arun Jaitley showed an increase of Rs.1.01 crores.

The watchdogs said 41 or 91 percent of the union ministers are crorepatis as per their declarations to the Prime Minister's Office.

Jaitely was the richest at Rs.114.03 crore, followed by Harsimrat Kaur Badal at Rs.108.31 crores and Piyush Goyal at Rs. 94.66 crores.

The statement said that 16 ministers have shown a decrease in assets.

"External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj showed a decrease of Rs.3.89 crores (from Rs.17.55 crores declared in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections). She is followed by Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region V.K. Singh who declared a decrease of Rs.3.13 crores (from 4.11 crores declared in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections). He is followed by Health Minister Harsh Vardhan who declared a decrease of Rs.1.28 crores," the statement said.

The statement said that upon analysis it was found that the cause of changes in assets was largely due to the lack of any standardised format for ministers' asset declarations.

"Many ministers have not given the value of many assets declared. Not declaring the value of assets in the ministers' declaration is akin to not making a disclosure at all," the statement said.

Chaddi party was saying all along that what Congress could not do in 65 years we achieve in 65 days. It seems they have achieved by increasing their wealth by 10% in 100 days.Poor Indians waiting for black money to be deposited into their accounts and roads to be built, toilets to be built. But you see chaddi Ministers only increase their wealth.FEKU goes to Siachen and shouts from there HAPPY DIWALI.But FEKU Ministers are engaged in making Indians DIWALI(Pauper)50% of the chaddi supportesr who were defending Chaddi Party in this forum have disappeared because day by day it has become very embarrassing for them to defend Chaddi Party.

Sir, that will be in the foreign banks or in somebody's name. Great people-serving politicians?
The U.S. politicians make the windfall of wealth through writing books and selling for very high price, thus making millions of dollars within a few months after starting the retirement. The Clintons were at the bottom of debt but now they are multi-multi millionaires. President Obama is a multimillionaire, made money through books. Later on, their rates of speaking will be $ 100000.00 to $ 250000.00/45 minute speech.

Politicians in all the nations smile and hold the crying children at the election eve, after the election hardly touch the ground, but either inside the four wheels or up in the sky. Then the money bird will be flying over the head, what a great profession? How many politicians can be exempted from this trade mark?

Attaching it to BJP is possible only if you are doubly sure all Congress politicians have no disproportional asset.

Politicising it dilutes the issue. Instead attack individually irrespective of party of apolitical person. This will not dilute the issue and corruption can be stopped.

if you blame party, then indirectly you are forcing the people to take corrupt persons side. Do not allow this to happen. Corrupt should be singled out for which you must stop commenting on partyline.

this is to show to public that the money they use for election is white while hundreds of millions of dollars are paid under the table in black to parties and favours collected accordingly by buisnessmen of those parties that win the elections.what do you call this?

Kuldesh, look at the condition of our full of pothole roads, highways, bridges & the Garbage thrown all over the roads & our holy Cows r grazing on them. Tell me honestly where the funds meant for development r going? As U know that Anna Hazare rightly said that Gora Gaye, Kale Aye to loot & ruin our country to the maximum extent, without doing any development work.

PMO has made it mandatory, for each minister to give his asset list/investemnt list.. he has made sure they dont have high number of personnel asssitant, and not to recruit any with close nexus to their business and without PMO consent, he has made it mandatory for bueracrats not to wokr on ORAL ORDERs, take everything in hard print, he has made RTI to be made available online for all to see! ithna transparency kaafi kuch hai, KHAANA MUSHKIL HO GAYA HAI! I like Modi's decisiveness in thsi respect... else these lot are hard to control..

The transparency in this giovt unlike your dongi give is that the ministers are made to their assets to the PMO. Did they happen any congress ruled govt ? Nowhere in the news it's mentions that the assets were increased illegally. If you got acidity problem file a PIl through RTI and prove if there is any wrong doig. ISMAIL K PERINJE., PERINJE, you must've also read that Jaitly, apart from hailing from Patiala royal family, was also a successful lawyer before foraying into politics representing Birals, Pepsico, Coca Cola etc in courts of law.

just imagine, if 60 years is given to these people to rule(common comment for few readers), what could be these numbers...Point here is, irrespective of parties most of the people in power will try to misuse the power. They are not aliens but people among us. Swatch abhiyan should be swatch mann abhiyan. If the attitude is right then rest of things will follow it.

Gowderu may have sold all existing trains\tracks as scrap to make way for bullet trains. That is his personal Railways. Modi also says I allotted so many crores, I did this, I did that so also all his ministers. It is not at all the Government of people doing those things (my Government...). They allot money etc from their personal accounts..
They are well on their way to prosperity and quickly too as they are not too sure of prolonged stay as Govt. "make hay when the sun shines" suits fine. In Karnataka too it had happened and they were not wrong at all about their Govt.'s duration....!! Somehow managed to complete 5 years...
Important thing is - will there be any inquiry as to how any minister's wealth increased in such short duration?

Who knows, by 2018 present ruling party also may fade into oblivion just like their predecessors, so obviously all are busy making hay when the sun shines.

    But there is a difference.
BJP\Ministers and others in the party, know very well they are cramped for time as it is only one term as "Government" so the haste to accumulate wealth by hook or crook and in a hurry.
If in 5 months 10 to 20 crore then those who are worth 100 and above crores will be more than 200 crores
and by the end of 5th year a mammoth 3200 crores!!!

Through out India if MLA/MLC/MP/minister and other political pudaris asset checked, 90% public servant's wealth are ill gotten.....There are no surprises in increasing Minister's wealth because they can easily slip from DA cases......In corruption there is no good or bad political party in India except AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
