Terror bid foiled in Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 24 (IANS): Pakistan police Friday foiled a terror bid by seizing a car containing a huge cache of explosives, media reported.

Around 250 kg of explosives were found planted in the car in Landi Kotal Bazar in Khyber Agency, Dawn online reported.

After the explosives-laden vehicle was seized, security forces launched a search operation in a bid to clear the area.

Khyber is among Pakistan’s seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border, rife with homegrown insurgents and foreign militants. These are also home to religious extremist organisations, including the Al Qaeda.
