Berlin, Oct 24 (IANS): German Bundesliga football team Borussia Monchengladbach cruised to a 5-0 victory over Limassol thanks to the brace by Ibrahima Traore in group A of UEFA Europa League here.
Trarore (12th, 67th), Branimir Hrgota (57th), Patrick Herrmann (84th minute) and an own goal by Angelis Charalambous helped the German side completely demolish the Cypriot visitors Thursday, reports Xinhua.
Monchengladbach got off to a perfect start in front of home crowd as Hrgota utilised a turnover on the left wing to tee up for Traore, who had no problems in slotting home the opener from eleven meters at the 12th minute.
The hosts kept it going and created more opportunities through Max Kruse, Hrgota and Thorgan Hazard but they were either short on accuracy or rival goalkeeper Bruno Vale was on guard to deny them.
The hosts finally were rewarded for their dominant performance as goalkeeper Bruno vale cleared a powerful shot by Traore into the path of Hrgota, who poked home at the far post corner to make it 2-0 at the 57th minute.
Limassol were unable to put up some resistance when Traore fired into the bottom left to seal his brace just ten minutes later.
Nevertheless, the hosts were not done with the scoring as substitute Herrmann extended the lead to 4-0 when he tapped in a Hazard square pass just four minutes after his fielding in the 79th minute.
Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as Charalambous scored an own goal to round off the 5-0 loss.
