Zambia to focus on economic diplomacy

Lusaka, Oct 25 (IANS) Zambia's Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba has said the country's new foreign policy will focus on economic diplomacy and not political cooperation.

The Zambian minister said national interest will be at the core of the southern African nation's new foreign policy launched last week.

"Zambia has projected a forward and pragmatic foreign policy aimed at facilitating trade, attracting foreign investment as well as projecting Zambia as a stable and peaceful country," he was quoted as saying by the Zambia Daily Mail Friday when he presented a ministerial statement in parliament on the new policy.

Zambia, he said, will advance economic diplomacy and pursue a foreign policy based on principles of mutuality of common interest and respect.
