Mangalore, Oct 27: The "exhibition of photography and painting of ‘History expedition'" organised by the Bornfree Art School Working Children Photo Exhibition Organizing Committee was inaugurated on Friday October 27 at St Aloysius College auditorium here.

Dr Akhter Hussain, professor and head, department of orthodontics, Yenopoya Dental College, inaugurated the exhibition. Mamata D S Gatti, president, zilla panchayat, presided.



The History Expedition (HEX) started off on February 28 from Bangalore and has covered a distance of 4040 kms capturing 25,000 pictures and over 30 hours of film along with a history and information of child labour in 27 districts of Karnataka, Canacona of Goa and Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.


There was also panel discussion on "Child labour-free district" and a live painting demonstration by Bornfree Artists group. "Childrenise the World," an art workshop for children by John Devraj was also a part of the programme.

Among those present were Dayananda Payyade of Photographers Association, Dakshina Kannada and John Devraj, director, Bornfree Art School, Bangalore.
