Mulayam re-appoints Akhilesh as SP's UP unit chief

Lucknow, Oct 27 (IANS): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav Monday re-appointed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav as president of the state unit, general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said in a statement.

Akhilesh Yadav has held this post despite being appointed the chief minister and many believe that he should be relieved of one of his twin responsibilities.

Mulayam Singh has also reconstituted the parliamentary board of the party.

The parliamentary board - the highest decision making body of the party will be headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav while Ram Gopal Yadav will be the member secretary.

Other members of the board include UP's Urban Development minister Mohd Azam Khan, SP leader from West bengal Kiranmoy Nanda, Ravi Prakash Verma, UP's PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav and Jo Antony.

Other than these, Akhilesh Yadav has been named a permanent invitee to the parliamentary board. Thus four of the seven members in the re-constituted parliamentary board are from the Yadav family.
