Udupi, Oct 28: Lawrence D'Souza (65), a resident of Shirva and an autorickshaw driver by profession who had sustained serious injuries in a road accident, died in the hospital on Friday October 28 evening.
Lawrence was coming to Padubidri driving his auto on Saturday October 21, when a Maruti 800 car coming from the opposite direction had collided with his rickshaw on National Highway 17 near Padubidri gram panchayat office.
Lawrence had come to the Padubidri GP office to meet the RTO officials who were visiting the GP office. He was on his way when the Mangalore-bound Maruti 800 car which was coming from Goa rammed into his rickshaw.
As a result he had sustained critical injuries and was admitted Vijaya Clinic in Mangalore. However, he succumbed to the injuries on Friday evening.
He is survived by wife, 2 sons and a daughter.
