People flee as lava reaches Hawaiian village

Honolulu, Oct 28 (IANS): Many residents of a Hawaiian village have fled their homes, threatended by the flow of lava from Kilauea Volcano, a media report said Tuesday.

People at Pahoa are running away as the lava from the volcano was about 70 yards from their homes, CNN reported.

Reports said the lava consumed fields and had flowed over fences.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said Kilauea was still erupting at its summit and on the eastern side.
