I may never play for India again: Yuvraj Singh

New Delhi, Oct 29 (CrickNext) : Yuvraj Singh has admitted he might have played his last match for India. Declared 'Man of the Series' in 2011 World Cup, it has been tough for Yuvraj to return to his best following a life-threatening battle with lung cancer, and he has been more out than in the national team since recovering.

"Of course, there is a possibility that I may never play for India again. I have considered that. But there is also the possibility that I might play for India again, and as long as I believe that I can come back and I have it in me, I'm going to keep pushing myself," Yuvraj told Wisden India.

Dropped from the ODI team after a poor tour of South Africa around a year back, Yuvraj last played for India in the World Twenty20 in April earlier this year but was more a picture of struggle as his fluid strokes appeared just once in five innings in the form of a half-century.

"It will be awesome to come back and play for India in a World Cup again. But if it doesn't happen, life goes on," Yuvraj has said.

"It's always disappointing when you don't make it to the side. But, that said, the last two years have been patchy, up and down. So it's not my call whether I should be picked. Hopefully things will change, and I will be picked again, otherwise life will be very depressing. I can only try and do my best," he added.

Yuvraj played the Duleep Trophy semi-finals for North Zone recently and the 32-year-old agreed he has been short of match practice, which is making it tougher for him to return to Team India.

"I can't really speak about selection. What is the best opportunity that I have? Duleep Trophy, the Ranji one-dayers and whatever other games I can get," he said. "As I said, if I can make it to the squad, it will be a great story. It will be awesome to come back and play for India in a World Cup again. But if it doesn't happen, life goes on. It will be hard to accept, but I'll have to accept it."
