Udupi, Oct 29: The three-day sixth Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu district Athletic championship began at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium Ajjarkadu on Saturday.

Medical Education Minister V S Acharya inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion said that the government is contemplating a new sports policy to ensure priority to sports.

Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes declared the open the meet. DK in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty was also present on the occasion.
