Diesel, petrol prices to be slashed by R 2.50 per litre

New Delhi, Oct 30 (Bhaskar News) : In some more cheers to common man, government may reduce prices of diesel and petrol by almost Rs. 2.50 a litre soon. The slashing of prices may take place ahead of assembly elections in Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir, reports suggest.


This will be the sixth consecutive reduction in petrol prices since August. It would be the first cut in diesel rates after the government deregulated the fuel in much-awaited reform.

After the deregulation, diesel prices were slashed by Rs. 3.37 a litre, the first reduction in diesel rates in over five years. Diesel rates were last cut on January 29, 2009 when they were reduced by Rs. 2 a litre to Rs. 30.86.

The planned reduction in auto fuel rates in the next few days would bring down petrol prices to a 16-month low and diesel prices to a level where it existed a year ago.

According to experts, dip in fuel price is result of a sharp fall in international oil prices.
Brent crude dropped to a four-year low of USD 82.60 per barrels two weeks ago from above USD 115 in June. It was trading at USD 87 per barrel on Wednesday.

    Mr Vellano no 1 Mumbai……About the airfares of haj pilgrims, do not make any guess. Pls check www.airindia.com and you will find that the return fares ( both ways ) for the month of Nov are 21,000 from Mumbai and 25,000 from Bangalore to JEDAH. From where you got the figure of 75,000…. During this month the passenger load is VERY VERY less. It is not even 20% of the full capacity of the presently operated aircraft which is Boeing 330 ER and is operated from Mumbai and this flight can take 350 passengers.….During the pilgrimage the flights are operating with 100% load… So it is nothing but looting by the airlines in the name of Hajj and Muslims. When the cost of the ticket is 25,000 how the subsidy can work out to be 75,000 ..UN IMAGINABLE…… WHY the govts are poking their nose in these religious affairs and why can’t they leave to individuals to arrange themselves.. No it will not wash its hand off because IT CAN MINT MONEY in this business…Why the NDA govt was silent during 1998 – 2004 on this issue and BJP opposes and barks, only when it is in opposition… Why this subsidy to be cancelled in 10 years time WHY NOT NOW ????? Dear Friend at the same time do not forget about the reservation policy of our govts,,,,Not less than 35% is going to SC / ST category. Why this discrimination ????? Even 65 years are not enough to uplift them ??? No because you and I know that the benefits have gone to other people in the name of SC/ST people like haj subsidy. Do not worry we have to live with such malpractices..

    Whom these oil companies are fooling? The diesel price should be approx. 45Rs./ltr. compared to the present international crude oil price.
    The govt. has no role to play since the oil prices are deregulated.

    UPA Govt. signed an understanding between oil company's in 2012-2013 that, oil company's will increase and decrease the prices of petrol and diesel as per international price structure.And the same followed by present Govt.So why credit goes to NDA.

    Mr Bella no 1. Mumbai....pls be careful in quoting the figures....we oppose the haj subsidy.....Why the Modi govt is not showing the courage to cancel it.. How did you arrive at the figure of 10 BILLION.....one should not bark since he knows barking....Dear friend the subsidy per person is 15,000 and 100,000 people are taking the benefit every year. The annual subsidy comes to 150 CRORES.....For your information a major portion of this subsidy is going to the pocket of ministers and govt officials and Air india.... as per the previous aviation ministers observations, Air India is getting breathing space due to haj flights....Govt is helping Air India indirectly thru this subsidy to cover its huge deficits.

    WE HOPE IN THE EARNEST THAT HAJ SUBSIDY IS CANCELLED IMMEDIATELY. Air India , ministers , govt officials are getting the benefit in the name of HAJ SUBSIDY....PLS CANCEL IT.....

    why r u getting worked up brother..! if you see, i never said anything against muslims.. I know a honest muslim says NO to subsidy itself.. I was critical of governments and SC views of abolishing it in 10 years... infact Owaisi sais REMOVE THE HAJ SUBSIDY! and I welcome it..

    point is government spending money over non-issues and helping out one community, quid pro quo...

    we are all seculars! no doles should be given out!! do devlopment of Ajmer sheriff, velankani, Vaishnodevi .. connect them with roads/rails and other infra! do it all the time... who cares!

    and about subsidy figures, I am damn sure, 75000 is spent on each pilgrims.. may be to revive air india or whatever reasons!

    I havent seen people flying to Saudi in just air india only! I see a jet airways/ emirates flights for all your travel!.. but subsidy just makes them go for national carrier, whcih is anyway under loss for its pricing policy..!!

    and get me the facts from 10k and 100000 pilgrims, from a reliable source, to rebut it!

    it is cos, Railways, in itself BAD SHAPE.. and it is going MAHARAJA-AIR INDIA way!! it needs immediate fix, to stop further erosion, in quality and sustenance....! lalu and mamata gang have ruined it and needs time... :) ...

    During Dongi rule, the price of petrol touched 81.50 Per liter.

    The current petrol price in Bangalore is Rs 73.50. After this reduction it will be 71 Rs.

    In just five months 10.50 Rs slashed. This is the qualities of True Government.

    its a valid point.. however, it is Public-private nexus and privtae boss lobbies should be blamed.. The karnataka Sarige sachiva is sleeping too! he shld be dealing with price fixing and reducing tariff... atleast it is so in govt busses..

    problem is most of this private bus lobby is Congi supporters... BJP govt, tried to break its bone, by adding KSRTC govt buses even in dharmatstala-subramanya puttur -mangalore udupi route...! its not so successful... and their own Sarige minister had his privet buses SRS plying!.. its a sad affair altogether.. a strong protest by citizens/students will shake the govt up!

Diesel prices were deregulated recently & present global crude prices have fallen to a 4 yr low below 83 dollar.     Modi has nothing to do with reduction in crude oil prices in International market... If he has reduced the fuel prices without any reduction in crude oil prices in international market, then i would have agreed with your comment.

    LPG is anyways 12 cylidners per year.. beyond which you have to pay full price, and not subsidized rate..

    I am sure, u r well of to pay 50Rs/- per year extra...! diesel and petrol is per ur km.. if u ride more, u will get more at less price... understand

    btw, Modi asked to voluntarily get rid of SUBSIDY and say NOT SUBSIDY on ur cylinder... u r all well off.. for the country's growth and need, did you do this much of sacrifice..? it wld have cost you just 5K per year extra..? why not do it..?

    On the other hand HAJ subsidy alone costs, 10 Billion Rs.. to Indian exchequer.. mind you majority of it is borne by Hindu tax payers! Just cos Indira Gandhi and Nehru wanted it to be so....? do you see the SUBSIDY BURDEN?

    and our Honorable SC said, abolish Haj subsidy, by 2022... they have given 10 years to just phase this subsidy out... DO you see the Irony,,.?? HERE THE SECULARS WANTS 15 Lakh Rs of BLACK MONEY in their account within 100 days..!!! and supreme court says, get rid of HAJ SUBSIDY in 10 years..? is it that difficult than getting black money..?

    I know even muslims dont want to take the haj subsidy themselves, cos it is haraam to go to Haj with discounts, loans or any kinds of alms... it should be done only when there is enough resources..!! but our govt, wants to appease them at any cost...

    But, when it comes to Oil/LPG prices slashes, everybody protests..

    This is a welcome move. However, it should not be seen as mercy of the current Govt. at the center.

    The international crude prices have fallen drastically and the reduction of retail prices of petroleum products in the domestic market are bound to be reduced as well, benefiting the common man.

    You mean, 2009 onwards "CRUDE OIL PRICES never fell.. that diesel rates were never cut..?" ovvu namoone FEKU maaraya yee...? Late 2011 it fell to 80$ range too.. I never saw diesel price going down.. instead, they were growing always...
