New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI): In a second such recent case in India, doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Wednesday removed as many 202 teeth crammed inside the mouth of a seven-year-old girl. According to reports, he girl was suffering from pain in the mouth and has swollen gums.
This rare medical condition, known as compound odontome, makes it difficult for the person to chew food or talk. It is a complex tumour that comprises dental tissues that have grown in an irregular manner.
The team of doctors reportedly used a special bone-cutting tool to rid the girl of pain.
In a case alike, a teenager was operated upon at Mumbai’s J J Hospital where doctors removed 232 teeth from his right jaw.
