New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS): A group of Jawaharlal University (JNU) students Saturday protested outside the Delhi Police headquarters alleging discrimination against the minority community in the communal violence that hit east Delhi's Trilokpuri.

"A group of 60-70 JNU students staged protest against Delhi Police over the Trilokpuri communal violence and blamed the force for taking action against minority community residing in the locality," Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar told IANS.

The officer said that the group of students gathered outside the police headquarter around 12.30 p.m. and protested for over half-an-hour.

He said: "A few members of the group of students also met Delhi Police Special Commissioner (Administration) Vimla Mehra and shared their views."

Two groups of Hindus and Muslims clashed on Diwali Oct 23 in Trilokpuri after five identified goons created a nuisance near a "Mata Ki Chauki" makeshift temple, leading authorities to impose prohibitory orders banning gatherings and movement of people.

The police have been relaxing the prohibitory orders for a few hours every day. The police relaxed prohibitory orders for 13 hours Saturday.

The area is still tense but there has been no fresh violence for the past six days.

So far, 68 people have been arrested over the clashes.
