BSF guns down smuggler, recovers 22 kg heroin


Amritsar, Nov 2 (IANS): Border Security Force (BSF) troopers Sunday shot dead one smuggler and recovered 22 kg of heroin along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab, officials said here.

BSF sources said the smuggler was gunned down in exchange of fire while two of his accomplices were arrested in Dera Baba Nanak sector of Gurdaspur district.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the spot, they said.

Before this incident, the BSF had seized 283 kg of heroin in the Punjab sector this year. Punjab has a 553-km long fenced international border with Pakistan.
