Puttur, Nov 1: Dakshayini (17), IPU student of Shri Ramakunjeshwara PU College at Ramakunja in the taluk, was saved from death as she attempted to end her life by jumping from the Hosmath bridge on Mondy evening.
Local swimmers spotted her jump into the flowing water and saved her immediately.
Less than two months ago, another student of the same college, Shraddha Rai (16), had jumped from the same bridge, following her failure in the supplementary examinations. She could not be saved and her body was traced much later.
The student and teaching community is in a state of shock and grief after these two disturbing incidents.
