Mangalore, Nov 1: Educationist, art and culture promoter and philanthropist Dr Mijarguttu Mohan Alva was on Wednesday conferred with the Pingara Rajyotsava Award 2006. The function was held in the Samaj Mandir at Moodbidri.

Moodbidri MLA and former chief whip Abhayachandra Jain, presiding over the function, honoured Dr Alva on behalf of Sangatya Literary Enthusiasts' Forum and Pingara Kannada weekly.

Dayananda Pai, Sangatya head Suparshwa M and Pingara editor Raymond D'Cunha were present on the occasion.
