Ancelotti open to contract extension talks

Madrid, Nov 4 (IANS): Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said that he would be delighted to extend his contract with the reigning Champions League holders.

"I think there is plenty of time to talk about that. I have a year and a half left on my contract, but I have already said that I would like to continue if the club is happy with me," Ancelotti said, reports Xinhua.

Ancelotti has done an excellent job at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium since replacing Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2013, winning the Copa del Rey and the Champions League last season, while this year Madrid lead the La Liga after 10 games.

All of this has led to speculation that club president Florentino Perez will look to extend Ancelotti's deal as soon as possible, something the Italian is delighted about, although, he is in no hurry to sign a new deal.

Madrid will host Liverpool on the back of 11 straight wins and Ancelotti said he hoped his team will go for the kill against a side they defeated 3-0 in the away fixture.

"I have confidence in the team because we are playing very well and we are concentrating hard to improve. We played well against Granada (4-0 Saturday) and now we are facing Liverpool. The players know better than I do that every game is an exam for them and that in every game you can either improve or take a step backward, but this team is totally professional," he commented.

Ancelotti also praised his players, who are currently scoring an average of around four goals per game.

"It is difficult to say there have been any errors and much easier to look for the good things we have done. Everyone in the squad knows how important they are and we are playing very well," he concluded.
