Kolkata, Nov 4 (IANS): BSF personnel Tuesday arrested a man and seized gold valued at over Rs.26 lakh from him near the Bangladesh border in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Border Security Force (BSF) troopers carried out a special operation during which they apprehended Nazrul Dafadar, 45, from near the Bithari border outpost.
Four gold biscuits valued at over Rs.26 lakh were recovered from him.
The accused, a resident of Hakimpur in the district, was handed over to the local police along with the seized gold.
The South Bengal Frontier of the BSF has seized gold valued at over Rs.24 crore and apprehended 37 smugglers so far this year.
