Deals worth 250 mn euros inked with Dutch entities


New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS): Deals worth 250 million euros were inked during the visit here of Netherlands' Minister for Foreign Trade Lilianne Ploumen, the Dutch embassy said in a statement Thursday.

Ploumen, who led a trade delegation to India, Wednesday met Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and proposed to look at removing trade barriers between the two countries, the statement added.

The Dutch delegation consisted of 30 companies and knowledge institutions, mainly from the agricultural, food and health sectors.

"Eight contracts with Indian partners were signed in total jointly worth 250 million euros. These include companies involved in ICT, sanitation and healthcare," the statement said.

Bilateral trade annually amounts to over 5.8 billion euros and the Netherlands is the fifth largest investor in India, the statement added.
