Chennai, Nov 7 (IANS): Actor-filmmaker Arjun Sarja, who is awaiting the release of Tamil actioner "Jai Hind 2", says films should guarantee more than just entertainment to audiences as he feels cinema is the most "effective medium" to inspire people.
Arjun-directed "Jai Hind 2" is slated for release Friday.
"The aim of films should go beyond just entertainment. I agree entertainment is important but I strongly feel cinema is the most effective medium to inspire people. Hence, films should give audiences something worthy to take back home," Arjun told IANS.
In "Jai Hind 2", in which he plays the lead, Arjun has touched upon the problems prevalent in our country's educational system.
"Most of my films focus on some problems that trouble us. This time I've focussed on our educational system. The core idea of the film was inspired by a book written by our former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam," he said.
The film is the sequel to Arjun's 1994 hit "Jai Hind", which dealt with terrorism.
Also starring Surveen Chawla and Charlotte Claire, "Jai Hind 2" will have a simultaneous release in Telugu and Kannada as well.
