Microsoft unveils standalone office apps


New York, Nov 7 (IANS): Microsoft has released standalone Word, Excel and Powerpoint apps for the iPhone and a Microsoft Office mobile app for android.

Android users already had the Office Suite 8 app to access Eord, Excel, Powerpoint and pdf on their phones but now they can also access the official Microsoft app on their phones.

The new iPhone apps allow advanced editing and have been optimized for the smaller screens of iPhones, Mashable reports.

"If you're in the middle of working on a presentation and you get on your train to go home you can just move to your phone and continue editing," Michael Atalla of Microsoft was quoted as saying.

Office apps for Android tablet, are still being worked on and are expected to become available in 2015.
