Kundapur, Nov 8: Rattadi in Amasebail near Siddapura witnessed protests on Friday November 7 after two persons from the village went missing on the same day.
Madhura Hebbar (22) and Sarfraz (27) are the missing persons. The woman is said to be married.
Separate cases on the missing were lodged in the police station. While in Madhura’s case her husband has complained, in the case of Sarfraz his father complained to the police. The complaints were lodged on Wednesday.
On Friday, the incident took on a communal colour with various groups including Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Prajna Youth Association, Durgaparameshwari Bajana Mandali and others like auto rickshaw and taxi drivers' union protesting in front of the police station and alleging 'conversion'.
The representatives of the groups alleged that it was a 'Love Jihad' attempt to abduct a Hindu woman. All shops remained closed in the village in protest.
A petition was handed over to the police demanding strict action against Sarfraz who is alleged to have taken Madhura with him.
As per reports, Madhura, the wife of Raghavendra Hebbar has been married for the past 4 years. She left the house saying she wanted to see her grandmother on Wednesday, but did not return. Later, Madhura's brother reportedly received a message from her stating that she had gone with a person of her choice as she was not happy with her husband who is a farmer.
Sarfraz was working in a Gulf country and had recently come to attend his sister's wedding.
The police so far have failed to trace the missing persons. The mobile phones of the missing persons are found to be switched off.
