State Award is a Honour for Entire UAE Kannadigas - Sarvothama Shetty

Abu Dhabi, Nov 8: Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha is one of the reputed and renowned organization of Kannadigas in Abu Dhabi. Recently it  celebrated its Silver Jubilee in style. Now, once again it has added a nother milestone  - a feather in their already glittering cap by attaining the greatest honour from the Government of Karnataka, which has honoured them  with the coveted annual  'Suvarna Karnataka Rajyostsava' award for being the  outstanding non-resident Kannadiga association in the Gulf.

Sarvothama Shetty an outstanding Social worker and philanthropist leading the association right from its inception has  led this association to greater heights. With the support and encouragement from its patron and well known NRI entrepreneur as well as a community leader Dr. B. R.  Shetty, Karnataka Sangha has served for the  betterment of Kannada language and the people of Karnatake State

Sarvothama Shetty, himself is the recipient of Karnataka’s Rajyostsava award few years back, received this honour once again on behalf of the association closer to his heart, from the Chief Minister of Karnataka H.E. Kumaraswamy and his Deputy  B S Yediyurappa.in Bangalore recently. 

Speaking to Daijiworld, Sarvothama Shetty has humbly dedicated this award to the Kannadigas of UAE, and especially to the people of Abu Dhabi. "This is indeed is a great occasion for all of us, Karnataka Sangha is truly honored by this award, with the support of patron Dr.B R Shetty and all members of Karnataka Sangha, we will continue with our efforts to keep our language and our efforts in promoting our State and its activities intact in UAE" he said. 

It  can be recalled that Dr.B.R. Shetty received the individual Karnataka Rajyotsava award in 1997 which was followed by Sarvotham Shetty in 1998.

Buoyant by this crown and the  newly achieved impetus, Karnataka Sangha will celebrate their Suvarna Rajyotsava Celebrations on 10th November 2006 with added zeal and gusto.

The celebrations with traditional gaiety and splendour, which will be held at India Social and Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi on Friday the 10th November, 2006 from 10.00 am onwards. 

Home Minister of Karnataka M.P.Prakash, will be the Chief Guest  and HE C.M.Bhandary - Indian Ambassador to UAE will be the Guest of Honour .  Dr. B. R. Shetty – Patron of UAE Kannadigas will preside over the proceedings.  Renowned Humorist  Prof.Krishne Gowda  will also grace the occasion. 

To celebrate the occasion, a variety programme with  dances and group songs, with witty and humorous talk by Prof. Krishne Gowda being an added attraction has been planned.
