Bengaluru, Nov 13: In a first of its kind initiative, Karnataka will soon have a state-of-the-art Air Ambulance Service. Karnataka’s Health and Family Welfare Services Minister U T Khader told reporters in Bengaluru on Thursday that corporate hospitals will be actively involved in the Air Ambulance venture.
The new aircraft is tailor-made and equipped with a state-of-the-art intensive care unit on a dedicated chartered aircraft, he said.

The goal is to provide critical care even when a patient is in transit.
The air ambulance is being run by the same team of doctors as critical medical attention is crucial during the `golden hour’ in case of serious accidents or other emergencies.
With the support of `108’ ambulances, a dedicated air-ambulance would be launched for all emergency services.
The State Government would only act as a facilitator and the corporate hospitals would run it, the minister said.
Issues related to air-ambulance were discussed with a Bangalore-based NGO and details would be worked out in the next meeting, Khader said.
The two-wheeler ambulance would be demonstrated during the legislature session in Belgaum in December.
It has a first-aid kit using which the rider of the vehicle would be provided medical care to the patient before shifted him/her to a four-wheeler ambulance, he said.
