Puttur, Nov 14: The husband of the deceased in the Kadaba woman’s death case has been arrested by police with the charge of murder.

The arrested person is Suresh (32).

The body of the woman Laxmi (28) was found in a well near her house at Perabe Patte village in the Kadaba area two days before.

From the beginning domestic violence was cited as the reason for the death. But it was not established whether it was a murder or suicide.

But it was reported that the police strongly believed that it was a murder based on some facts. The complaint also mentioned about injury marks seen on the head of the deceased to suspect murder. The dead body was sent to Deralakatte for post mortem and forensic analysis.

Then the husband of the deceased Suresh was subjected to interrogations. Now it is gathered that Suresh was an alcoholic. The couple had a fight on the fateful night of the death of the deceased. Suresh during the fight had hit her with a small wooden stool which is used to sit in the kitchen. Laxmi also retaliated and hit him back with the same stool and went out saying that she would die.

When Suresh followed her bit later, she was found outside the house near the well. Suresh hit her hard with the same stool on her head. Laxmi died instantly due to injuries. Then Suresh pushed her body into the nearby well. It is said that the neighbours knew this fact but did not reveal to the police in fear of legal problems.

During the interrogations Suresh had admitted that he had fight with his wife but denied that he killed her. Puttur rural police circle inspector Anil Kulkarni and Kadaba sub inspector Yogish Kumar were in charge of investigations. Kadaba special Tahasildar Purandhar Hegde had also rendered his help for the investigations.

Now as per police sources, Suresh has admitted to the crime.

You are right....in a multicultural society there is betrayal too....men and women who stray out of marriages being unfaithful and trying to find a reason to end marriages and what the society sees are a couple fighting....a probe will know the real reason for a violent husband trying to humiliate his wife...

Domestic violence, should not have happened, sad for the wife and sad for us that we still have these issues in our society.
Now a word to the 'activists' - will you demand CID probe, get down to the street, blame the administration, arrest a neighbour, stone someones house or business? No, we will clarify that this is domestic violence.

In a multi cultural society, there will be love, elopement, disappointment, marriages against the parental approval etc. All these need to be treated as situations in our society, not as COMMUNAL.

Even if it is only ONE community (rest perish naturally, or are eliminated or run away to the sea) at some point of time, all the present day evils will happen, may be more will happen because 'those who live by the sword, die by the sword' is a saying.

So, let us tolerate each other and treat crime as merely crime.

Point to be noted : Neighbours knew and they did not act. So much for a 'caring community'.
