Italy fixture not crucial, says former Croatian star

Milan, Nov 14 (IANS): Croatian football legend Davor Suker said that Sunday's match between Italy and Croatia will not be crucial for both sides' bid to qualify for Euro 2016.

"The match against Italy won't be crucial. Three points will be up for grabs and that's it," Suker, who is also the president of the Croatian Football Federation (CFF), was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

Italy and Croatia are now placed at top two spots in Group H.

"We expect a tough game at a packed San Siro, so may the best side win," he said.

Suker hoped Croatia could repeat their what they did in 1994 against Italy.

"Italy are the favourites but we're going to Milan with confidence, hoping to do well against the Azzurri, just like in 1994, when I scored two goals against them in Palermo," he said.
