Delhi girl is school cleanliness drive ambassador


New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS): South Delhi municipal school student Rashmi Nayk was named the first brand ambassador of a school cleanliness campaign, Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan, Friday.

Nayk, a student of Nigam Pratibha Vidyalaya, Defence Colony, is the first ambassador of the Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan launched by the government on the 125th birth anniversary of India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

The young ambassador also released a document "Badhte Kadam Karyakaram" under which the South Delhi Municipal Corporation will focus on improving education and strengthening the infrastructure in municipal schools.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Human Resource Development Smriti Irani said: "Corporation is the foundation of democracy and children are foundation of nation. We have to motivate the young generation of our country as good citizens are the real assets of any nation."

She also appealed to the students to join the Clean India Campaign (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan) and to keep their house, school and surroundings clean.
