Margao, Nov 9: All India Congress Committee secretary and observer of Goa -Maharashtra desk Siddharth Patel has said that expansion of the Dabolim Airport will begin soon, and that the naval authorities had been asked to hand over the additional land to airport authorities for expansion by prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

For the last several months South Goa member of parliament Churchill Alemao was agitating for the upgradation of Dabolim Airport and scrapping of new airport project at Mopa. Alemao's demand about retaining the Dabolim Airport has got the green signal, but he is waiting for the scrapping of Mopa Airport project.

Patel did not speak anything about Mopa airport, but assured that expansion of Dabolim Airport will commence soon.
