Tsunami waves detected after strong quake in Indonesia

Jakarta, Nov 15 (IANS): Small tsunami waves were detected Saturday in two places in eastern Indonesia following a powerful 7.3-magnitude quake.

According to the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency, a tsunami wave with a height of 0.09 metre hit Jailolo island and a wave of 0.01 metre hit Tobelo island in North Maluku province, Xinhua reported.

"This is safe. It means that big waves will not come ashore," an agency official said.
