Mangalore, Nov 11: "Sahodara Vedike" (forum of brethren) which has been formed to promote peace and amity between believers different religions such as Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and Jainism will be formerly inaugurated on Wednesdays November 15 evening. This is a forum of youth representing all these religions and working towards promoting peace.

The forum will be inaugurated by five housewives (mothers) from different religions.  The inaugural function will be held at Town Hall here.  When asked about this special arrangement of inauguration, Denis D'Silva, the general secretary of the forum said that if a mother can sow the seed of love, peace and harmonious living, then peace would prevail among all the religions.

Dr Mohan Alva, founder president of Alva's Education Foundation would be the guest of honour on the occasion while the programme will be presided over by M G Hegde, founder of MIFT College.  M S M Abdul Rashid and Judie Pinto will be the chief guests on the occasion.

The objectives of Sahodara Vedike are:

  • Identifying pockets which are sensitive to communal feelings or which are cradles for communal clashes or persons who ignite communal clashes and pursuing them to abstain from clashes.
  • Guiding youth to take up work and making available various employment opportunities to them so that they are busy with their work.
  • Trying to curb clashes when they still budding
    Encouraging Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Jain communities to organize various programmes together.

This was announced in a press conference held here on Saturday November 11 morning.
