Dubai, Nov 13: Billawas Dubai & NE Sucessfully conducted a Cricket Tournament exclusiverly for Billawa community members for the first time.
The Tournament was held at Sharjah Wanderes Club on Nov 10 th 2006
Sports Secretary Madhav Poojary & Jt.Sports Secretary Sudhakar Poojary made every arrangement for a good day’s cricket.
The community cricket tournament was inaugurated by senior member Vaman Poojary. President Umesh Kuckian welcomed and appreciated the efforts of the sports committee and called upon the community members in the gulf to be united. The philosophy of Guru should be practiced sincerely and devotionally so as to bring a peace and harmony in the community and the whole world, he said and appreciated the hard work put in by the committee.
The matches started sharp at 9.00 AM and more than 250 Spectators were present and enjoyed the match.
Umpiring was done by Prabhakar Suvarna and Sandesh Salian.
The participating Teams are:
1. SHIV SAGAR 11 V/S. SHARJAH FRIENDS
2. BILLAWAS DUBAI V/S. MAXELL INTERNATIONAL
3.KOTI CHENNAYA V/ S JABEL ALI FRIENDS
4.ULLAL BROTHERS V/S. ABU DHABI BILLAWAS
Games were played strictly according to the set rules. IT was 8 over game. The semi finalists are:
1. SHIV SAGAR V/S. KOTI CHENNAYA
2. ULLAL BROTHERS V/S. MAXEL INTERNATIONAL
Ladies Cricket which was held in the afternoon was one of the special attractions of the day. All the billawa ladies participated.
KITHURA CHENNAMMA Team led by Shyamala Poojary won the match.
Delicious lunch served to all the spectators.
Mens Semi Final match was staaaarted immediately after the lunch. KOTI CHENNAYA AND MAXELL INTERNATIONAL teams were entered the final.
The final match was tough between the two teams and played under the flood light. However KOTI CHENNAYA Team was finally clinched the Trophy.
To give lightful atmospere to lit the spirits of players and sepctators the organisers have arranged the trournment in a ground which has the facility for floodlights. The pleasant weather conditions brightened up the ambience which in turn provided a sporting armosphere all around

BEST BALLER: GANESH BANGERA , KOTI CHENNAYA
Prize distribution was held immediaely after the match. Billawa renowned personalities Praveen, Mohan Attavar, Suresh Amin, Vaman Poojary, Chidanand Poojary, Indira Jayanand Kundar and Sunita Kariya Poojary distributed the prizes.
Commentators were Ramanand Belapu, Yogesh Kumar, Prakash Poojary, Jaya Kunder and Chidanand Poojary.
General secretary Satish Poojary Conculded the tournament with vote of thanks.
