One killed in Afghanistan rocket attack

Kabul, Nov 20 (IANS): A Taliban rocket slammed into Afghanistan's eastern city of Assadabad Thursday, leaving one person dead and six others injured, police said.

"A rocket fired by Taliban militants slammed into Assadabad around 10 a.m.," Xinhua quoted provincial police officer Abdul Habib Sayedkhili as telling reporters. All the victims were civilians, he added.

Civilians often bear the brunt of war in Afghanistan. Nearly a dozen civilians have died and more than 40 have been injured in suicide bombings in Kabul over the past one week.

Taliban have not claimed responsibility for Thursday's rocket attack.
