Vote to end dynastic politics: Modi in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 21 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday appealed to the electorate to end dynasty politics and corruption in Jharkhand, saying it will pave way for development in the state.

Modi was addressing a rally at Chiyanki in Daltanganj area. Six Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members, contestants in the first phase of polls Nov 25, were also present.

"Vote to end dynasty politics in Jharkhand. If family politics prospers, then how will Jharkhand develop," Modi said.

"If Jharkhand is saved from dynasty politics and corruption, then the state will become a developed state," Modi added.

He also spoke of his recent three-nation visit to Myanmar, Australia and Fiji.

He drew comparisons between the minerals found in the state and Australia and said the same minerals were found in both places.

"What is the reason that Jharkhand is a rich state but the people are poor. What is the reason that Australia is a developed country and Jharkhand is lagging behind," he asked.

Modi also spoke about how he met scientists during his Japan visit earlier.

"In Japan, I met scientists and appealed to them to find out medicines for sickle cell disease which is found in tribal population of the country," he said.

Modi spoke about Jan Dhan Yojna, inviting poor people to open bank accounts.

"More than seven crore bank accounts have been opened under Jan Dhan Yojna and Rs.60,000 crore have been deposited in bank," he said.

Modi was overwhelmed with the large number of people at the rally.

He said when he visited Palamu district during the Lok Sabha elections, lesser number of people were present.

"...The indications are clear," Modi said.
