Mall sealed in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Nov 21 (IANS): The Ghaziabad district administration Friday sealed the Gaur Central Mall, saying it owed nearly Rs.4 crore to the revenue department.

The mall located in the posh Raj Nagar area was sealed at 7 a.m.

District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma said the mall owed Rs.3,94,42,490 to the revenue department since Sep 29, 2013.

Gaur Developers managing director Manoj Gaur termed the administration "goons" over its action.

"The Ghaziabad district administration is acting like goons. It does not have any power to seal the shopping complex which has led to loss of crores of rupees," he said.

Officials said papers related to the sales registration deed of the mall were sent to the additional district magistrate (finance) for scrutiny.

The additional district magistrate found the evasion of stamp duty, and a notice was issued to the mall. The developer ignored the notice, and so the district administration sealed the mall, they said.

"We got the property registered four years ago. The ADM arbitrarily issued recovery notice which we challenged before the divisional commissioner. The notice did not say they will seal the mall," Gaur said.
