Five killed in Afghanistan attack

Kabul, Nov 22 (IANS): At least five people were killed and seven injured in an attack in Afghanistan, the authorities said Saturday.

A bomb targeted a car in Nangarhar province's Jalalabad city, 120 km from Kabul, killing one person on the spot and injuring two others, Xinhua quoted provincial police spokesperson Hazrat Hussain Mushriqiwal as saying.

All the victims were members of a family.

The officer blamed Taliban militants for the attack.

In another incident, four militants were killed and five people sustained injuries Friday night in a clash in Baghlan province, an official said Saturday.

"A group of armed Taliban rebels raided a security checkpoint in Abqul area of Baghlan-e-Markazai district, triggering a gun battle which lasted for a while, leaving four militants dead," Governor Gohar Khan Babri told reporters.
