17 killed in Morocco floods


Rabat, Nov 24 (IANS): Heavy rains in some Moroccan regions have led to the death of at least 17 people, including 13 in the province of Guelmim, who were washed away by floods, according to new figures released by the country's interior ministry.

The ministry also said 18 people, including 15 in Guelmim, are still missing, MAP news agency reported.

Rescue teams conducted air and ground operations that helped rescue 200 people, including 40 who were rescued by helicopters of the Royal Armed forces and the National gendarmerie, according to a source.
