Veteran journalist Arun Roy Chowdhury dead


Mumbai, Nov 24 (IANS): Veteran journalist and social activist Arun Roy Chowdhury passed away Monday after a prolonged illness. He was 87.

Roy Chowdhury was a director of the public sector IndianOil Corporation (IOC) and had been amicus curae assisting the Pipelines Inquiry Commission that probed the working of the corporation, and its predecessor,
the Indian Refineries Limited (IRL), with regard to the laying and working of two pipeline projects.

One of the pioneers of the film society movement, he was special correspondent of Blitz, the weekly, now defunct, for several years.
