Udupi, Nov 24: The members of district Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest near Clock Tower, service bus stand here on Monday November 24, against district inchange minister Vinay Kumar Sorake for his 'expert' remark while referring to Udupi-Chikamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje.
Recently, in a press meet, media persons tried to draw the minister’s attention to the ‘Kiss of Love’ concept and asked him to respond to a statement issued by MP Shobha Karandlaje. He had commented that Shobha happens to be an ‘expert’ in it. The remark sparked a controversy with BJP leaders condemning the minister for making such a statement.
Sheela K Shetty, president, BJP Mahila Morcha, said that being a politician he should be careful while talking to the media and raised questions about the 'Kiss of Love' concept, adding that it will have repercussions and adversely affect the moral fabric of the society.
Shetty further added, "With a rich cultural heritage like our nation, we have lots of things to do for the well-being of our society. We should give up such unethical, immoral, thoughts and practices. The word ‘expert’ gives various connotations. Undoubtedly, there is a way to seek justice and stop the harassment of women harassment.”
BJP members insisted that Sorake should apologize to Karandlaje at the earliest.
BJP district president Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, Raghavendra Kini, BJP town president, Kuthyar Naveen Shetty, Vasantha Salian, Shyamala Kundar, state secretary, and Geethanjali Suvarn were present.
