Balli returns to the BJP

New Delhi, Nov 25 (IANS): Harsharan Singh Balli, who ought the 2013 Delhi assembly elections on a Congress ticket and lost, Tuesday returned to the BJP fold ahead of the state polls.

"I committed a mistake and now I am repenting it. The mistakes that I have committed in the last one year have been forgiven by the BJP," Balli said.

Balli quit the BJP after he was denied ticket for the Hari Nagar seat in the December 2013 Delhi assembly polls due to a seat sharing arrangement with the BJP's ally Shiromani Akakli Dal (SAD).

He then contested the election on the Congress ticket and finished third behind the victorious Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Jagdeep Singh, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Shyam Sharma.

AAP founder member Ashwini Upadhyay, along with three other AAP leaders, also joined the BJP on the occasion.
